Cherish and conserve the environment that surrounds us.

Busy Bees Napier Road believes that the environment is a child’s third teacher and strives to provide a nature rich environment with vast indoor and outdoor spaces. Our cosy Kōwhai Room and adventurous Redwood Room have their own large outdoor space filled with real grass and beautiful trees. Our natural environment allows tamariki to connect with Papatūānuku (the natural world) and gives them the freedom to explore and have fun.

Our Rooms

Kōwhai Room (up to 2 years)

Our Kōwhai Room environment is based on building loving and trusting relationships between pēpi, kaiako and whānau. Kaiako structure the day according to individual pēpi needs. Kaiako work closely with whānau to understand our pēpi cues and develop a routine that supports their natural rhythms. Kaiako utilise sensory play, outdoor exploration, music and movement to create a fun, interactive atmosphere whilst maintaining a focus on the love, care and affection that pēpi need to thrive.

Redwood Room (2-5 years)

Our Redwood Room provides a rich learning environment focused on the tuākana (older children) of our centre ensuring they have the opportunity to develop confidence, independence and self-management all of which align with Te Whāriki (Early Childhood Curriculum) and the pathways to kura (school). Tamariki are encouraged to care for others, the environment and their own property and are supported to understand their growing sense of responsibility for themselves and the world around them. While reading and writing materials are available to explore, the curriculum is emergent and discovery-based, with kaiako observing and conversing with tamariki to develop projects based on their interests.

We are proud to be a lunchbox centre. This promotes independence as well as encourages self-help skills in preparation for school.  We encourage families to make healthy food choices and ensure their child’s pouaka kai (lunch box) meets centre guidelines as well as Ministry of Health criteria for Early Learning Services.

Teachers do regular baking with the children, which provides opportunities for them to engage and learn a range of food preparations skills and fine motor movements such as pouring, sifting, spooning. It is a great hands-on sensory experience for children to develop independence through self-help skills, practice simple maths as they measure and count quantities.

Curriculum

Our local curriculum incorporates learning dispositions, the principles and goals of our ECE curriculum Te Whāriki, and competencies derived from Tataiako. Our innovative learning environments are abundantly resourced with stimulating educational resources which complements the delivery of our local curriculum and educational programme. Our teachers are passionate about encouraging children's creativity, supporting their emerging social interactions, and celebrating their individual successes.

Passionate Teachers

We have a talented group of kaiako who have been selected based on their experience and passion within the Early Learning field, their professional knowledge of teaching and nurturing tamariki as well as their philosophy of education and knowledge of child development. Kaiako build meaningful, respectful relationships with tamariki and their whānau and work in partnership regarding all aspects of tamariki learning, interests, goals and holistic development.

Testimonials

The teachers are all warm and friendly, they make time to chat to the parents and the children at pick-up and drop-off. They understand what it's like to be a parent and the concerns we have. They have the same values, goals and aspirations for my child that I do.

Parent Feedback

All the teachers are warm and caring and incredible at what they do. I found it very hard when looking for somewhere for my twins to go to daycare. Having other people responsible for my babies was a huge step for me, but I feel so comfortable leaving my girls in such amazing hands.

Parent Feedback

My daughter has been there since three months old. The teachers are amazing! Very supportive and i love that they treat her like their own.
